I&G get green fingers...

I&G successfully secured the University of Leeds Lab refurbishment scheme at the Roger Stevens Building in March 2021 and with a build programme of 30 weeks, works have progressed to an advanced stage with both lab refurbishments.

To service the new labs, a programme of structural works had to be completed, removing a concrete plant deck, breaking through a parapet wall, providing a new service riser, new external plant gantry and associated glazing works to the upper corridor to provide two state-of-the-art lecture theatres.

The theatres consist of new seating, ICT equipment, purpose made furniture and bespoke joinery items along with a green wall and other soft finishes to ensure the high-performance acoustic properties of the rooms during lectures.

I&G have used the in-house joinery expertise of Dave Garside to ensure the completed work is to an exacting standard and to meet the client expectations of other theatres completed over recent years and Dave has been involved with all detailed joinery work and the coordination of other trades from the outset.

Garry Laycock has managed the whole of the scheme to ensure the key logistical requirements and constraints of the busy University were maintained around the construction activities and having previous experience working within the campus, both Garry and Dave have produced a fantastic scheme that will complete ahead of the Christmas 2021 shutdown ready for the students return in the New Year.
