I&G invests over £1m in new headquarters to support its continued growth

Construction company Illingworth & Gregory (I&G) has relocated to new premises following the purchase and significant renovation of a two-storey office block at Lowfields Business Park in Elland.

More than £1m has been invested in the new office space to support the business as it continues to expand, following year on year successful trading.

The office will become home to the 30-strong team, working across a variety of health, education and commercial projects across the North of England.

Sean Henderson, Managing Director of I&G, said: “We’ve been searching for suitable premises to support our expansion plans since Sewell Group acquired I&G in 2017.

“We’ve come from a converted terraced house to a state-of-the-art open plan office complete with the latest technology, and it’s a much-improved environment to support the growth of our team.

“Now more than ever, we want to make sure our team feels comfortable and we’re providing a welcoming and safe place to work. The team has been intrinsic in designing the layout and look of our new home and everyone is really excited about the move.

“We’re really proud of our history and heritage, but we’re a forward-thinking business and we’re looking ahead to the future. It’s an ideal time to move as we prepare to welcome new recruits to support our growing our client base.”

Despite the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic, I&G has welcomed new staff, including a new Trainee Estimator and Site Manager over the last 12 months, as well as promoting several of its long serving team members, giving way to vacancies to fill their previous roles.

Technical Director Christopher Carline and Trainee Estimator Mohammed Hasnane are among those who recently joined the I&G team.

Mohammed said: “Everyone at I&G has made me so welcome and it’s great to work in such a friendly environment.

“The new offices are much better than our previous premises and the layout makes it easier for us to communicate with each other instantly.

“I’m excited to see the business grow even further and I really want to be part of that long-term.”

I&G is part of Sewell Estates, a portfolio of property businesses including investments, construction, facilities management and estates consultancy services.

Jo Barnes, Sewell Estates Managing Director, said: “I&G is a long-standing family business and it’s fantastic to see it expanding into state-of-the-art new premises ready for the next stage of development.

“It’s great for the group too because our investment gives us new premises in West Yorkshire to support our North of England growth ambitions and reinforces our commitment to the area.”

I&G is currently working on several specialist reconfigurations across NHS acute hospital trust estates, including additional projects at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust and Sheffield Health and Social Care NHS Foundation Trust.
