I&G continue to grow in 50th year

West Yorkshire based construction company, Illingworth & Gregory (I&G), is growing its team after its most successful year of trading, which comes in its 50th year of business and just five years after it joined the wider Sewell Group.

The company, founded in 1972, works across the North of England and is part of the Sewell Estates arm of the Sewell Group, which delivers investments, developments, construction, estates advisory and facilities management solutions for public and private sector customers.

New Managing Director, Christopher Carline, is excited for what the future holds after several key promotions and new positions created that are proving to be very successful. He said:

“I&G has a long standing and envious reputation, which is testament to our team of highly skilled professionals, many of whom have worked for the business a long time.

“This year we have welcomed new faces to the team, as well as promoting internally in key roles including Martin Carr, who’s stepped up to Commercial Manager and Dave Wood as Contracts Manager, who have a collective 25+ years with the business.

“We’ve also recently welcomed Paul Russell as Operations Manager to bolster the senior leadership team and help push the business forward.

“This, alongside the recruitment of a number of graduates and trainees is adding to our already successful team.

“I’m looking forward to building on this success with the support of the wider team, who I know will continue to deliver an outstanding service for our customers.”

Chris follows in the footsteps of former Managing Director, Sean Henderson, who has stepped across to manage sister company, Sewell Facilities Management.

Sean will remain on the I&G board to support the team in its continued growth.

Over at Sewell FM, the team have also had a successful start to the year with new contract wins, being re-appointed to key frameworks and their own team growth.

Sewell Estates MD, Jo Barnes, added:

“We invested in I&G in 2017 because of the perfect match to our wider business. Their long-standing reputation, fantastic team and culture made the perfect pairing; we knew we’d work well together.

“This growth trajectory has continued, and our strategy has always been to grow our pool of talented people and promote from within, which is why I know that the future looks bright for I&G.

“Chris has been working alongside Sean over the last 18 months to grow into the role of Managing Director and is now ready to take on the mantle officially.”

The Sewell Estates collective of businesses also includes sister construction company Sewell Construction, Sewell Investments, Sewell Facilities Management, Shared Agenda, Parallel, and Community Ventures Ltd.
