Illingworth & Gregory (I&G) is now one of sixteen firms on the £650m YORbuild medium works framework alongside sister construction company, Sewell Construction.
The new YORbuild3 Medium Works Frameworks awarded in April 2022, are designed for new build and refurbishment schemes valued between £4m and £10m and are aligned with the Construction Playbook offering several improvements to enhance benefits to both clients and contractors.
Covering the YORhub east region led by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, and the west region led by Leeds City Council, each will dovetail with the existing YORbuild Major Works framework for the benefit of delivering successful projects and excellent social value outcomes.
Sewell Construction Joint Managing Director, Mark Boothby said:
“The YORbuild framework will continue to help both companies build upon already proven track records of delivering intelligent, innovative, and sustainable solutions for our partners across the public and private sector.
“I&G joined Sewell five years ago in a move to help both companies capitalise on opportunities across the region. Together, Sewell Construction and I&G’s expertise span across a diverse and complex range of projects. From specialist units to dental facilities and diagnostic centres, to remodelling works, new build construction projects, extensions, and everything in between.
“We look forward to utilising this new framework to enhance our collaboration with our supply chain across the region, support our clients, and ultimately deliver even more successful projects to our customers – new and old.”
Currently celebrating 50 years in business, Illingworth & Gregory is a like-minded family business, which was welcomed to the Group as Sewell Construction’s sister company back in 2017.
Chris Carline, Managing Director for I&G added;
“For both businesses to be recognised and awarded onto the framework as one, just shows how far we’ve come since we joined the Group.
“This is a perfect example of cross-functional excellence, which has allowed us to jointly bid for tenders and refer clients internally to expand our networks, capitalise on our site team’s knowledge and work to the same goals, values and ambitions.”

I really appreciated that I&G worked with us to make it work, as it was a difficult project with out of hours working.
AHRThe standard of work was good, both Site Managers and Project Manager were agile in that we had a number of changes and they accommodated those very well.
