I&G pledge to raise £50k in celebration of its 50th year in business

West Yorkshire based construction company Illingworth & Gregory (I&G), have pledged to raise £50,000 in support of a chosen charity during its half century celebrations in 2022, and beyond.

The company, founded in 1972, works across the north of England and has just recorded its most successful year of trading following new contract wins across health, education, and commercial projects. 2021 also saw a recruitment drive following their move into new £1m custom-designed offices, meaning I&G step into its 50th year on a strong footing.

To mark this major milestone, I&G staff voted for a cause close to their hearts, The Kirkwood, who provide specialist care to adults with advanced, progressive illnesses, also providing support for their family members, friends and carers.

Managing Director Sean Henderson said:

“We wanted to make an ambitious pledge for our 50th year in business that would really challenge our teams, give them something to aspire to, and give back to the communities that we serve.

“This is a very exciting year for us as a business, not only are we reaching our half century, but we’ll also be marking five years of being part of the wider Sewell Group.

“We have a huge amount of expertise across the business, with some of the team reaching 20+ years with I&G, so that coupled with new faces and young talent is really helping us push forward as a business and deliver even more significant projects for our clients.”

To reach their £50,000 fundraising target, the I&G team will be taking part in monthly challenges and a variety of sponsored activities, as well as encouraging subcontractors and partners to get involved. The backing of the wider Sewell Group’s 500 employees will also help the team on their mission to raise money for The Kirkwood.

In keeping with the ‘50’ theme, staff will also be given 50 hours of volunteering time throughout the year, which can be used to collaborate with local Kirkwood volunteers and campaigners to contribute to the target.

Over recent years, I&G have worked with NHS Trusts across Yorkshire, helping to improve acute and primary care facilities for patients across the region, including major works at Barnsley Hospital, Rotherham Hospital and Leeds Teaching Hospitals to name just a few. A health-related charity felt like a natural choice for the team, many of whom have personal experience of how important The Kirkwood’s services are to local people.

I&G is part of the Sewell Estates arm of the Sewell Group, which delivers investments, developments, construction, estates advisory and facilities management solutions for public and private sector customers.

The Sewell Estates collective of businesses also includes sister construction company Sewell Construction, Sewell Investments, Sewell Facilities Management, Shared Agenda, Parallel, and their most recent investment in Community Ventures Ltd.
