I&G complete stunning library refurbishment
There are striking projects, and then there’s the University of Leeds’ new Health Sciences Library.
The I&G team was thrilled when the university asked us to work with us on this stunning refurbishment, providing an amazing new collaborative working space for students.
The university wanted the space to feel a bit different to other spaces on campus – and it’s definitely got impact.
Work included:
- Skylights to flood light into a place which originally had no natural light
- Adaptable lighting
- Acoustic baffling to control noise levels
- New access to the mezzanine for wheelchair users
- Connection to nature, through deeper colours, natural materials and a subtle blend of texture.
And all of this had to be completed just a doorway away from a working library, meaning our reputation for sensitive construction was really put to the test.
A huge thanks to the University of Leeds and Procure Partnerships Framework for giving us the chance to work on this project – we’ve really enjoyed it, and we hope the students love their new space.
